Book Introduction

TASK: To write the introduction of an apparel store’s promotional book.

The Jobless Street Moment of Life.

“What am I doing here? I imagined my life to be different. I have desires, goals,  aspirations, and certain targets I have set for myself. Am I here because I wanted to? Am  I here because I had to? Or am I here because I am forced to?

Why am I here?...

What am I doing here?...”

Every great revolution, every significant change, and every passion pursued starts with a  simple question, “Should I follow the  stereotypes and succumb to society, or  should I follow my heart and change society?”

India is aiming to be a superpower, and it is an obvious fact that this target can only be met by the country’s youth. The strength or ability of the Millennials and Gen Z is not the question, but the talking point is the willingness of the youth to work at their workplace.

The lion’s share of Young India pursues an undesired degree or works disinterested for an organization and later regrets its choices. This is where the problem lies—when the nation’s tomorrow depends on today’s youth, but the nation’s youth are jobless.

The  Jobless Street (TJS) reframed, the term’ Jobless’ doesn’t refer to unemployment. TJS defines this term as a  phase of people’s career where they might be employed but aren’t satisfied with their job or don’t love what they do. It determines the state of an individual where one has more significant expectations of life but is either compromised for less or is refraining from doing more.

The enthusiasm to deliver a personal best can only be acquired when people love what they do. Perseverance despite failures is only possible when the youth crave what they want. The lines might seem simple, but it isn’t as easy as it sounds. Chasing after dreams requires your mind to think freely,  requires you to commit to your goals, and you must be brave enough to take risks.

The Jobless Street is one such company that portrays the free-thinking nature of the individuals and reflects the personality of risk-takers. TJS is a sustainable clothing brand that promotes handloom apparel. It envisions supporting the weaving community by representing the risk-taking personalities through unique designs. It is currently working on expanding its reach across various fabrics.

The firm aims to sensitize people by depicting the stories of various individuals who instilled the free-thinking and risk-taking attitude in them. ‘The Jobless Street  Book’ is one of the steps taken by TJS to reach this goal. This book is an experiment to look into their minds and learn from the challenging stages of their lives.

The book consists of stimulating personalities who once doubted themselves from taking risks due to their fears within and misbeliefs around. We call  these moments ‘The Jobless Street  Moments of Life.’ These moments gave them a choice of calling it quits owing to the dilemma, friction, and dissonance they experienced pursuing their passion. However, they chose to persist and molded their fears into a positive strength that impacted society. They became the game changers and the cherished souls.

The book presents the stories of people belonging to various occupations—civil servants, entrepreneurs, film directors, and politicians. The variety in their professions,  the similarities in their struggles, and their life experiences are indeed our lessons for growth. These stories don’t just make us admire the magnificent personalities but also inspire us towards our goals. These stories teach us to fight our insecurities by focusing on their Jobless Street moments of life.
